ABOUT ME

I don't know why anybody should be interested in me, but this page helps my internal page rank - regard that as your first lesson - so I am including it.  Apart from that, there might be somebody interested in who I am, why I wrote the book and why I invented the word Seocious.

I am an honors chemistry graduate with a degree in pure chemistry from Edinburgh University, and currently work full time as an industrial research chemist.

My interests are internet marketing, computers, puzzles, pool, snooker, rock climbing, hillwalking and trivia quizzes, a topic on which I currently run a successful website. My main interests, however, are my wife, two children (one a psychologist and the other a computer programmer) and two grandchildren (learning to talk!).

I became interested in search engine optimization and its interaction with search engine algorithms as a challenge and a puzzle, rather than in any sense of gaining higher search engine index listings. I read all I could then began to put what I learned into practice in my own way.

I followed all the algorithms changes as I read them and found that I could get high listings even with a low link density for fairly well subscribed keywords. I put all I knew together into one new website and it was listed in Google in less than 48 hours, and reached the top 10 in less than two weeks.

That is why I decided to write the book.  I though up the name Seocious since I was finding it difficult to find any good domains containing SEO that were not already registered.  I stuck to Improved Search Engine Rank for the initial launch, since that had a fair monthly demand, but registered seocious.com in case the name stuck.

This is my current objective - to try to generate business around a made up name. It's an intellectual challenge that will not hurt or bother me if it fails. You don't get anywhere in this world any more without trying things.

That's enough about boring old me:  get back to Seocious
